Hi, Could someone please answer all/some of these questions? Thanks
I drive a 2003 Z4 (E85) 2.5 i

I am considering the following wheels and tyres.(staggered)

XXR 527 matte black

F 18 8.75 ET 35 tyres: 225-40
R 18 9.75 ET 20 tyres: 235-40

1. Will these fit my Z4? if yes, alot of tyre stretching?

2. will the above offset allow for the wheels to be flush with the fender?if no, what offset would you recommend.(do not want to play with camber etc)

I have searched the forums but have not found above information. would really appreciate your help as I just bought the car and i am really excited to do it up.

Can't make out what rim sizes you have. Wasn't aware you could get 8.75 and 9.75. Regardless, it looks like you might be over cooking it on the tyre stretch.
Here's a guide to correct rim/tyre sizes, hope it helps.

Rim width---Min tyre width---Ideal tyre width----Max tyre width

8.0 inches-----215 mm--------225 or 235 mm-----------245 mm

8.5 inches-----225 mm--------235 or 245 mm-----------255 mm

9,0 inches-----235 mm--------245 or 255 mm-----------265 mm

9.5 inches-----245 mm--------255 or 265 mm-----------275 mm

10.0 inches----255 mm--------265 or 275 mm-----------285 mm

Also you might like to try out this web site and enter your rim sizes/offsets to work out the extra width you might grow on your wheels:

Disregarding the tyre stretch issue, I just put in my wheel sizes and your proposed and the backs will grow an extra 46 mm! That would definitely foul the fender. For the front it would appear you'll grow an extra 22 mm. This is very marginal and I would suggest with a strong chance they too would foul the fender. I suspect you need to consider much slimmer rims!

Thanks alot for the reply.

XXR has these in 9.75 and 8.75.
yeah wouldnt mind a bit of stretch but not too much as thats mainly for Jap cars in my opinion.

I had a look at the website you linked me, I cant figure out what it is saying. says things like EXTEND 20 mm or 2mm MORE. No idea what that means. A bit of a noob here.

Also tried that rimsntires.com website but thats site seems strange too because for example if i set the offset to 40mm the wheels are further out compared to 20mm offset, shouldnt it be the other way around?!! :headbang:

Look at the diagram on the web site I gave you. Now establish what it is showing you and you'll see the smaller the offset the more likely the wheel will extend beyonD one that has a larger offset. I know it's counter intuitive but trust me you'll figure it out as you play with the values. Always of course put your existing wheel sizes/offset in the top lines before you put in your new sizes in the lower lines.
Still think the tyre sizes are very wrong for your proposed rim sizes but then it does appear the larger rim size/offset won't work anyway.

so when it says EXTEND an extra 28mm what does that mean? does that mean the wheels stick out 28mm outside of where the fender is?

What tyre sizes would you recommend for those size rims?

Correct to a degree. If it says extend then that's how much extra the wheel will stick out from the wheel you were comparing with. Do not confuse this with any relationship with the fender it is simply where your existing wheel is plus 28 mm. As for rim sizes then against your tyre sizes then it appears you need either 8 or 8,5J on the front (225)and either 8.5 or 9 J on the back (235).

Simple thing to do is enter your current rim sizes into the calculator plus the offset of your current rims and then enter your proposed rim size complete with its offset, press calculate and hey presto you'll have 2 values. One for how much the inner edge of the rim has moved inwards when compared with the original wheel and another for how much the outer edge has moved outwards again when compared to the original wheel.

ahhhhhhhh i see, makes sense now. The only thing is I still have not received my car as it is being freighted from east so i dont know how it is exactly. I guess a google search will tell me that. I know the tyres are 225/45 17

I knew you'd get it eventually. Once you know the offset and rim width it's dead easy to work it out in your head. Have to say it baffled me until I applied myself to it. Good luck for when the car arrives and don't rush into chopping the wheels in for something else at least not until you get familiar with what is already on the car. Also remember the ride on a Z is hard enough!
