Fitted Gaptech. Now flat battery

Hi

Fitted a Gaptech a few days ago and it worked fine. But today the batteries flat.
I've checked all the Gaptech wires and they are all connected to the loom correctly via soldered joints. And the joints are taped up.

Any ideas ?

Also, I'm charging the battery now. If it drains the battery completely will it trigger the car alarm ?

Thanks

Did you play with the gaptech without the engine running because that will drain the battery quite quickly.
I've had a flat battery in the past which triggered the alarm and also left me with an airbag light illuminated.

I opened and closed it twice with the engine off. The battery has always been strong before. And the roof didn't struggle when closing.

The handbook advises to always have the engine running when operating the roof 'to reduce the load on the battery' which before I fitted the gaptech I did.
I'm only suggesting it could be an answer depending on how old your battery is.

I got the car running and left it for 45 mins to charge. Started it again and just clicked so I've ordered a new battery.

Hopefully it was just coincidental with fitting the Gaptech.

Check to see if your alternator is putting out the right voltage. It may have failed and is no longer charging battery.

My car's battery gave up the ghost last August - it was the original battery fitted at manufacture in 2006. If yours has never been changed then I'd put money on a new one being required. I've had a Gaptech fitted since early 2012 and used it loads without the engine running, never had a problem.
