Link to an article on the Autocar website below. Interestingly BMW are saying it will be lighter than the 135i and are now talking about 350BHP rather than the 340BHP that has been quoted before. No doubt they'll want to make sure it's quicker than the RS3 that is coming soon....

Fronts nice, side is not bad, but the rear end is horrible.

Overall... 2nd hand M3 any day!

And here, E92 please. I'm not sure why but I just don't get a good feeling about the car.

Has a similar image to an Audi S3, which may seem odd.
 
Sorry but i have never liked the 1 series and am surprised they sell so well. The M looks Ok actually, better than i expected but just wouldn't do me at all. I had a 1 series cabriolet to drive as a courtesy car a while ago and really didn't like the feel of the car at all. Think i'd prefer a Figaro if i couldn't have my Z4. :rofl:

if i drive one of these and love it im going to order one for sure, simple... The only thing im completely unhappy about is the engine... this is not an M engine, its from the 35is models, mated to an ///M platform, i cant believe they stuck powered by ///M on that engine, its a great motor but full power delivered by 5900 is no ///M engine, bring back the s54 with a sidemount turbo........... 450bhp ALL DAY LONG!! the s54 is Bmws 2jz, strong, powerful, gorgeous sound, great mpg, hell it even looks amazing, along with the V8/v10 ///M engines, thiese are the last of the proper ///M engines, RIP ///Motorsport division......now?? ALL hail ///Marketing division.... SAD!
 
Interior looks a bit crappy. Bit of suede over the dials and some stiching, bit of an afterthought. THat lump on top of te dash, is that the satnav? yuk.
Only has 340bhp with and turboed, not a step up from our real M cars with similar max power.
I still want to try one tough. It'll probably have plenty of grip but power delivery is not M power style.
 
i an not keen on the styling... the suede speedo cowl looks very halfords.... and never noticed the headlight washers on a 1 series being like horns on the front.... :thumbsdown:

I guess that's a consolation for MC owners, but and i mean BUT a few £££ spent on this thing and i will be mighty quick!!!

I quite like the suede, abit CSL like IMO

But it's not faster with 4 years+ more development although of course those laptimes are hardly scientific (different conditions, different driver?) so it might be faster or slower but probably around the same. Think it's good for the Z4 M . I doubt many of us will want to upgrade to that level of performance(simiilar) with a different power delivery (more mid range but lack of top end fizz).

I bet the 50-70mph performance in top gear blows the Z4 M into the weeds :). And yeah, probably a better day to day car but not so good for those special occassions.

Will love to see one in the flesh and test drive. i wonder when they'll be available for test drives?
 
Overall a nice car but I would still take an E92.

Bad points for me are that the interior looks cheap, but I do like the swade bits. Wheels also don't look so good close up. Engine doesn't look as glam either tbh but that's because it isn't.
