Finding yourself in the ditch!!!

I have an aul sayin: “You think things are going along great then all of a sudden you find yourself in the ditch”!!
Often wondered how many times our traction control has saved any of us from meeting this fate?
 
Never been in a ditch, and until the Z4M I'd never had a car with traction aids.

Although when I did need it, all it did was flash the dash light and continue to do it's 180 on the motorway (in fact I think that had the DSC been off at that point, the brakes wouldn't have tried to control the loss of traction to individual wheels, and would have let me plough straight on through the puddle).
 
Would that not be rivers and lakes and maybe the odd marsh ground?
