finding someone who knows how my 2004 Z4 hood

Hi everyone hope you can help
I am trying to find a decent garage that can replace the motor on my Z4 hood.

Only had car 4 weeks and I am told the motor has packed up (it wouldn't open). It opens from the screen but doesn't go back all the way.

I live in Herts, and I am willing to trying to someone who won't rip me off!!!!

Any advice and help would be very much appreciated.

Private or trade purchase? If the latter you have six months warranty, if the former, then there are quite a few here who have used local indys successfully....its even worth seeing if your local dealer will be knocked down a bit on price....they often have deal rates for older Beemers.

Sorry to hear you having trouble so soon, spoils the experience. :(

There is no automatic six months of warranty even from a trader although six months is a cut-off for some legal assumptions, the below CAB link gives some useful info on your options. Hopefully you bought at a good price so all may not be lost and you will have a nice car with the updated roof motor :thumbsup:

In the event of a trade sale, the buyer is generally entitled to a six-month warranty for most faults, but particularly those that were likely to have been existent or developing at the time of sale, which this would.

I've successfully relied on that legislation twice with the assistance of Trading Standards. But this was a private purchase sadly so zero comeback :(

How come some traders say they offer only 3, 2,1 or even zero months warranty, if this is a trading standards requirement. It's like Curry's giving you a 3 month warranty on a new TV when everything automatically has 12 months, Why is 6 months not then an automatic warranty on a trade sales vehicle?
