Finding and fixing rattles, squeaks and creaks...

Seems the M is quite the rattle-magnet; especially when compared to my old Coupe.

Are there any common places to start looking for the causes of the noises? If so, how best to go about tackling them?

It's a Roadster, so roof-related noises would also be worth resolving!

Tend to agree, I went down the route of putting sound dampning butyl sheets on the inside of my doors and boot area see link http://s786.photobucket.com/albums/yy142/johnrankine/z4/ but will possibly spray some clear stone chip in as well, have previously done this on another project and works well.
