Hi all
I haven't posted in a while, as life has been getting in the way a bit :(

Anyway I hope you are all well and thought I would update on my car stereo project,,

I had the hi fi option orinally,,, 11 speakers inc subs etc, which was pretty good and for most people would be fine, unfortunately I am a sado when it comes to music,
so a while a go I started changing all my speakers over to Audisons, that improved things a lot, now I have fitted the Audison 8.9 forza amp and a Audison monoblock for the subs and once I had I got my head around the software to program the amp,,,,wow what a sound, crystal clear, loads of headroom. superb definition :D

Hello matey, nothing too serious i hope
Always healthy to have time for a forum like this, it’s therapy :P

No nothing serious Rob, thanks for asking, all lots of trivial things that take up a huge amount of time

Sounds like a lot of work, Rusty, but the end result must be epic  . I'm probably too deaf to appreciate the nuances of good quality audio anymore, so it'd probably be wasted on me

Are you still using the normal head unit?

Since yours is a 28i have you found the ASD increasing its presence?

Pbonder, yes I am using the existing head unit, but the forza amp software you can de EQ the signal, really needed it too as the signal was treble biased it almost hurt
Enzed4 never to deaf

The issue I found was the extended bass response of the new speakers overly emphasised the low frequency brum brum of the ASD.

My ASD defeat harness has arrived finally so will fit it this weekend and then see how I take things further..

Phondar, what system did you start with and what do you have now?

Funny I had the exact opposite, when I ran the Audison software to flatten out the head unit EQ, I could not believe how the graph that showed the existing signal to the front speakers was on a curve up from 2k to 5k. The audison has DSP built in which helps too, you could try a line out converter if your defeat harness doesn't do the trick

The issue is that the head unit passes through the ASD, therefore the signal is the sum of your intended audio and the ‘brum brum’ sounds..so any low pass /band pass filtering affects the ‘brum brum’ sounds but also the intended audio...

The ‘brum brum’ sounds are in a band from 30hz through at least 500hz so it really ruins the bass frequencies...

Intrigued as to how your harness works....does it intercept the head unit before the ASD or does it plug into where the normal hi fi amp was in the boot?

Mine plugs in where the normal amp would have been and that's why I can alter the signal from the head unit (ASD) in the amp itself, I don't have any issue with the bass signal at all, not quite sure TBH what you mean by "brum brum" accept when I used to play with toy cars lol

The ASD creates a fake engine sound into the amp/speakers..it’s cleverly done so you think your listening to the engine note through the exhaust but your not it’s a fake song thrown primarily to the rear speakers to create the correct spatial image for the sound..

I thought I was listening to the real noise until I disconnected the ASD connector then had a much much quieter car...unfortunately you can’t on most cars simply disconnect it as then you also loose the radio /nav audio..

With the much better sub woofer response, I’m using the Audison bmw sub woofer speakers but have set the frequency range to be more extended as the Audison have a wider response than most subwoofers..the fake ASD noise is now intolerable...

Strange you haven’t noticed it...

Aah as the youngsters would say, my bad, I now realise the ASD is a simulated engine sound, thought you meant the pre programmed eq in the head unit, and the reason I do not have ASD so not been an issue for me, I can now see where you are coming from and why you have this problem, can you not disable it?

Hi Pbondar
Speaking to Simon at Enhance yesterday about your issue, he asked if you still had the original; amp fitted as well, as with mine we have taken it out, he said it could possibly be that

Hi no..the 676 amp is on a shelf in the shed..all the sythethic sound is created soley by the ASD unit, all equalisation is done in the amp not the head unit. the ASD has an amp built in for those cars without 676 or 677 options ie basic six speakers
