Ferrari - owner experiences?

Now that i've completed renovating my house, my Ferrari itch is back. :|
The guy that I bought the house from had 2 Ferraris and everytime i'm in the garage I do keep thinking about it.

Thinking either 328 or even 355. Anyone here had experiences of either. (i'm now joining Ferrari forums too.. .. a bad sign says Mrs Five!)

I also check used Ferrari prices (348, F355, and 360) regularly. Prices of F355 and 360 are around £40k. I will pick 360 F1. :D

I joined Ferrari forum years ago when I was considering the 348TB.

348 is meant to be the dog.....personally I have always fancied the 412...or 400....

355 is cool too, but if you could afford it, 360 still looks great. Just don't like red cars though! Sorry

I looked at an F360F1 after experiencing my ex Boss's one which was amazing (he actually had two of the bloody things one after the other). I called him to ask advice which was a resounding "Don't do it". The reasons being that both of his spent more time in the shop than on the road. His advice was to join one of the high performance car clubs, use it when you want it and probably save money overall.

On the flip side, the 360 is cheaper to run than a 355, and another friend who has one says it's reasonable overall to run. His is collected, serviced and returned for the princely sum of about £1300. That's not cheap, but then if you have to ask, you can't afford it.

If you buy one I'll be hideously jealous!

+1 :)

An in-law had an older Ferrari (can't remember which - but I think it was a 512) and the impression I had was that you find yourself a reputable, reliable and trustworthy mechanic skilled in Italian cars before you start looking for the car.

. Don't buy replica Ferrari if you can't afford the real one.

just because it's white, doesnt make it good :poke:

never understood replica's myself :idunno:

my dad has an f430 16m so I asked him his opinion. Rule of thum......every other model is a classic, and it's pretty much accepted that the 355 (specifically gts) is becoming a sort after collectors car (as long as you get one under 20k mileage with all the nice add ons). I dont think the 360 will age well, just as the 348 hasn't, yet the 328 doesn't look bad at all now. Obviously its down to personal preference, but the 355 is a much better drive than the 360, especially in gts form. Give it a few years, and the 355's will be worth more than the 360's.

One thing to bear in mind.....belt changes....engine drops for the belt changes cost a PACKET! We're talking thousands. The 355 is less advanced than the 360, so is likely to cost less, especially from a specialist. Now days since the 430, all fezzas are chain driven, so guess its just part of owning a future classic!
