Febi Bilstein rear strut mounts

Which dampers did you have fitted Swanny ? I used b4 and a new bolt (from bmw and identical to the one that came out), it all snugged up and torqued up with no knocking at all, having done mine myself I’m not sure I subscribe to what the guy who did your work said to be honest. I could be wrong but I would think there’s a good number of folk on here that have fitted bilstein without issue.
I’m glad you’re sorted now though and able to enjoy the way your car now feels, have you had 4 wheel alignment done too?

I had fitted b4s suplex springs and lemforder top mounts,had the exact same set up on the fronts done about a month ago done by the same guy with good results.
I have also used the same guy for other jobs always with a good end result so i am a little confused myself.
Regarding alignment I had the fronts done when i refreshed the front but yhe guys with the hunter set up said 3 bolts on the rear were too risky to try undoing,however when i had the rear suspension done the mechanic on my request freed up yhe bolts so i can now have it all aligned.
But all is good now so in the end all is well

Just to update my issues.
Took my car back in to have the rattling and knocking looked at,the guy that did the work took it straight back in and after a lot of investigation found that on the bilstein shocks the bottom hole that takes the bottom bolt is very slightly thinner around the hole,this meant the bolt was then too long and was bottoming out just enough to not fully lock the shocker in place.
were talking a couple of mm,after using a very slightly shorter bolt the issue is fixed and the car drives great with no knocks or rattles

That's interesting.
My missus is still reporting a slight, but almost continuous knocking from hers since I replaced the rear shocks.
I have had the damn thing up on ramps, jacked up so everything hangs free, one side up, other side up, you name it.
Loosened off everything and retorqued it all. Still this continuous little knock over every bump.
Driving me insane!
I fitted Sachs dampers. I cannot get any movement at all when I try to rattle them, but it has got to be worth a look at that bottom mount.

Got to be worth checking the bolt ,the mechanic said the difference in bolt lengh was very small and hard to find but enough to stop it fully tightening,which did cause a very loud and distinct knocking.
Since the fix all as been quiet and drives great feels well planted and a lot tighter turn in makes the car feel like its halved its age and mileage.

Checked it now. All good.
Delved deeper, stripped out the entire boot and pretty certain its either a hidden piece of trim or shielding under the car that's vibrating. Goes away once you get up a bit of speed. Something to do with resonant frequencies or air pressure I expect. Either way, I'm confident the car is safe!
