Favourite winding road?

State rt. 89a from Flagstaff through Oak Creek, Sedona, Cottonwood, Jerome, Prescott, Yarnell, to Congress and back. Pure fast twisty fun!
As scenic roads go, The San Juan Skyway or Colorado 145 from Delores through Telluride, Rigway then continue on 550 to Ouray, Silverton and Durango is amazing high altitude mountain vistas combined with winding mountain roads.

I wonder if I could talk Rosie into showing me around

I woulda.....in fact just needed a mental break and took yesterday off and did the Hwy 9 to the beach drive. It was in the 80's or near there as i sat and soaked up the sun for a few hours....then Hwy 9 home cause I didn't get enough of it.

Next time give me warning, or ping me on im.....and then just show up.

Großglockner Hochalpenstraße in Austria - absolutely incredible road with even better views... Shame the car looses so much power as you near the 8500ft summit!! :D

You guys have dream roads. The one i use is nowhere near as fun but its a small road next to NYIT on long island! Its realy tight with extremly tall trees making a nice canopy. You can never see more then 15 feet in front of you because of all the twists and turns.

My girlfriend and I drove out in my 2007 3.0si from Wisconsin to Palo Alto back in August. We took the high route visiting national parks (Badlands, Devils Tower, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone) in South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho among others. The best parts of the drive were Buffalo WY to Thermopolis, WY in the dark on US16 and the Lolo Gap (US12) MT->ID. The Wyoming drive was probably a bad idea as there were regular non-car visitors to the roadway (thank you xenons for pointing out the deer and free range cattle). The Lolo drive was unreal as the curves, switchbacks, ups and downs kept coming all the way to Boise :driving:. I haven't figured out what roads to hit in the Bay Area just yet. I've been focusing on trying to keep the car clean (read: garage = cover on campus) despite all the construction kicking up dust in the air. Perhaps black sapphire metallic wasn't the best choice for color?
