Favourite rust locations on Coupes

Hi folks,
Whilst I wait for a suitable Coupe to come my way I'm trying to learn as much as I can about the various weaknesses l should be looking out for and so my question is where to they rust ? Obviously with any car over a decade old rust can appear anywhere but are there specific areas l should inspect that are infamous for rust?

Coupes rust near the rear windscreen as the water is always collecting there.

Obviously not the case for garaged examples but for those not in a garage that is the first place to look.

I would also keep an eye on the lip at the front edge of the rear wing or quarter panel where it meets the outer sill panel that runs under the door. I've seen rust appearing in this area and as these panels are unique to the coupe worth looking after.

That's a really good point especially as you say, it gives an idea on being garaged regularly or not.

It's also worth having a look around the edges of the tailgate when it is open.

Rear brake pipes often corrode just in front of the passenger side rear wheel, but that isn't exclusive to Coupes.

Rear wings around the inside of the arches, as well as the edges where the panel meets the side skirt. Inside area of the boot predominantly below the bird bath, as well as the lower edges of the doors.

Whatever else I find two years from now when I go for a full rebuild and respray, we’ll see then :roll:
