Faulty Gearbox - M Coupe

I have not had the car long and have barely covered 500 miles since purchasing the car as AUC from a BMW dealer back in April 2016.
I noticed it was difficult to get into reverse and this was mainly from cold and it would take a few attempts to go into gear.
The car was dropped off to the local BMW dealer in on Monday and it was diagnosed to be an issue with the gear box, they have checked the clutch and it is approx 50% worn.
The gearbox is covered under the AUC warranty.
The dealer is recommending i should change clutch/fly wheel , this is not covered under warranty , do you know where i stand on this with the car hardly being 6 weeks in my ownership?
What is the avg cost of clutch/flywheel?

Clutch + Labour + M Tax.

Do you have a spare kidney and maybe a first born you can sell to BMW?

Might be worth checking on the Z4M Section as someone will know how much.

Rough guess of £600 with labour.

Written in the terms of the warranty or not, if they are recommending a clutch replacement on a car that they sold you 6 weeks ago then they are paying for it!

Should not be any labour charges, just the cost of the clutch.

But I would be pressing the dealer/BMW to foot the lot.

The issue the car was bought from a BMW in the Midlands and the car is at my local dealer in Hampshire. I have contacted BMW UK and raised a case with them.

My gripe is the expenditure for a new clutch/fly-wheel just having the car for such a short while :headbang:

You could try the SOGA route but the counter would probably be that the clutch doesn't *need* replacing at 50% wear - unless of course TIS/BMW manuals state new box =new clutch and flywheel. I think a realistic aim is to pay for the clutch and/or flywheel but with no labour as the bloody thing is coming out anyway and they would have to swap it over regardless?

Unless you like a good fight like me

Clutch & flywheel at dealer prices is about £3k.

I was also asked if I wanted mine changed when they put the new engine in at 23,000 miles. I declined, and didn't replace it until about 140,000 miles.
