Fault codes

All the usual places say that BMW fault codes have five digits and usually start with a “p”. Yet my E86 on two types of reader (creator and Launch) give me five error messages which won’t go away. These are window anti- trap left and right (OD and OE respectively) and three relating to the alarm (8a/88/89) - these are tilt sensor and interior movement sensor. The window actually doesn’t anti-trap so it is faulty but the alarm appears to be working okay. Any ideas please as it seems even a dealer doesn’t know!

It’s confusing, the error codes are in two formats: Pxxxx and 4-digit hex. I have seen a table before which translated between the two, but you’d have to Google it.

Thanks the windows message on both readers says “power windows drivers side anti-trap error OD…. And the same for passenger except it says OE. Both window switches work as normal but anti trap doesn’t work and the windows only lower about a mm not 6mm on opening the door. But bro does are identical. A main dealer said they coujd fine nothing intrinsically wrong but I didn’t ask for a full assessment as that would be opening my wallet for oien surgery

Try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes after clearing codes. Could it be an old battery, they can throw up a lot of codes when knackered

I scanned the car with the Launch Tablet and got the codes Clive has listed above. Cleared them but they retuned immediately.
battery could be a good call, if its weak that can mess things up however the GM5 module may be the cause, its seems strange that its set codes for three units within the alarm system shouldn't think all three went bad at the same time. As to the ant-trap function on the windows I wonder if its something to do with comfort closing function options that are coded to the car using NCS Expert, not at all sure the distance the windows should drop when opening a door has options for how much they open, anyone know?
