Fault code PO139

Whilst out driving today the engine fault light came on so plugged the diagnostics in and it's come up with the code PO139 which is sensor 1, bank 2. This happened a few weeks back and I had the sensor replaced? Any ideas why it should throw a fault up again?

Just got back from the garage, they seem to think it might need a new Cat? The car as only done 26k, might this be the case?

HIGHLY unlikley - how much do you trust this gargage?

This seem to be the 'default' position with most garages, just ask Andysat. I would suggest you clear the light, see if returns, and then if the car is running OK but you still have concerns ask the garage to do an emissions test. That will tell you if the cat is faulty. I also think it is highly unlikely that a cat has failed with only 26k miles on the clock.
Do you do a lot of short journeys? Sometimes these cars are better if you give them a 'spirited drive' and also give it a dose of fuel cleaner, such as BG44k, from time to time.

I dont think the car as been used for anything except school runs maybe, its a 2005 model and with only 26000 on the clock i cant imagine it did any great runs?
The light came on about 2 weeks after i bought the car, sensor was replaced and it stayed off for about 4 weeks but i only tootle about and to be honest i dont drive the car like it wants to be driven and it stands all week until the weekends....
 
There's your answer. Take it out give it good drive and invest in a can of BG44k for less than £20. I used it last autumn and have been very pleased with the results. I take it you have your own code reader?
 
Thanks for the help folks, yes I have my own codereader, best £29 I ever spent! One thing i have noticed is that there does see to be quite a lot of "clean" smoke from the exhaust which seems to be there even after driving for an hour or two, could this be a problem?

Humm - there was a debate over that stuff on here - BG44k - people were in two minds....wonder how it would affect the M engine...

Yes. From Powerenhancer. I brought two cans for about £36 including postage and used it in my Series 1 and my Z4. Can't see why it would damage the M engine. Suggest you read the blurb.

I took the Zed up to a mates garage today and h tested the emissions, clean as a whistle so I seems the sensor may be the problem again, I have added a dose of cataclean just in case there is a carbon build up somewhere and once this tank of petrol as gone I will fill her up with premium fuel and see if it makes a difference?
