3 years and 3 months of M ownership is finally coming to an end. 42,000 miles and the best part of £13k in V-Power, several sets of tyres, 3 MOTs all passed without any work required.

If i had a garage and a bank account big enough, it's a car i would keep forever, but a Gen 2 997 C2S is arriving this week, with it's token rear seats!

I shall miss the M, and all the countless occasions it's had me giggling like a schoolgirl

Nice choice, what goodies does it have?

It has the switchable PSE exhaust thingy, Bose and the sports seats - exactly what i wanted - no PDK, no 4WD, no huge heavy electric seats. Various gizmos inside. Pure, naturally aspirated, rear wheel drive pork.

Piggy bank well and truly fucked.

I wasnt expecting it to feel that much faster than the M but it does. The DFI engine has a lot more mid range and is still very fizzy up top too.

Congratulations - nice place to be in order to be able to buy one, and not a sh1t car by any stretch either :D

Do stick around though

Hah i actually looked at the advert for that car the other day - i was trying to learn the styling differences between the various 911 models. Looks lovely :)

Does anyone actually know? the 996 c4s has a wide body kit the same as the turbo right? does this apply in the 997 range?

EDIT* answered my own question, there's an inch and a bit on the wide-body models, which are the 4/4s/targa/turbo etc.

I went and looked at Pilchard's motor on Sunday.

I almost pulled the trigger but the old adage of never buying a car in the rain and no test drive dissuaded me at the last minute.

I am now sitting here wondering what it could have been.

In hindsight, I should have taken a microfiber towel and dried off the rain off the bonnet......I think that could have made my decision for me....

Completely understand why you would want to see it dry. And as i said i would have happily let you drive it yourself if you had insurance

I've just driven it for the last time ever (sniff)..... no doubt someone is going to pay 13-14k for it at a dealer shortly!

I understand where you're coming from on the test drive thing. I am just annoyed with myself that I didn't take a cloth to wipe down.......
