Fan Noise and heat

Hi all, I have noticed that my engine fan seems to be coming on very early when driving and also very frequently a lot more than I have noticed with any other vehicles.
I took the car in to be looked at and everything came out ok but it's still happening and also the air gets warm in the cabin quite quickly too....
Anyone any ideas?

May help for those of lacking in clairvoyant skills to let us know what model of E89? :tumbleweed:

Check you haven't got the a/c on permanently. There is only one electric fan which doubles as a radiator cooling fan and a/c cooling fan.
The E89 cycles the fan for the a/c via a high pressure switch, it doesn't run permanently with the a/c on like on some cars.

Sorry yes it's the E89 model....

I only hve the normal vents working with the fans blowing definitely not the AC or anything like that.....

On the N20 engine versions (yours)..there is a relatively common fault with the engine coolant sensor failing and causing such a paddy..you need a decent Indy to check that one out..

Without a decent fault code reader you are grasping at straws I’m most of these cases..

Thank you that's good to know is it an expensive fix?
I am taking the car in soon to get the coolant flushed out as I topped it up the other day and I think I have mixed two different coolant types.
So, I decided to get it flushed out and get the recommended BMW coolant put in, just hope my error of mixing coolants doesn't cause an issue.
Whilst the car is in I can get them to check the sensor.....

I think the sensor is about £80..it looks like an oil pressure sensor..

It turns out it was some kind of a senson housing thing that was causing the issue, hopefully all fixed now..... :driving:

Hi,

I see your car had the same issues I am experience with my Z4 E 89 2.0 2013 .
I’ve had water pump done and thermostat still having problems .
What was the part you had done on yours please ?
So I can let my garage know .

My fan keeps going mad , coolant getting hot.
Went to BMW who said the thermostat and pump needed replacing . Had it done at a different garage
BMW are saying I would have to pay again for them to look at it - which I’m not happy to pay £220 again for them to look again.
Have a code which now says
