Fall on a Bus

Im looking for opinions/advice please

My wife got on our local park and ride bus and before she was able to be seated the driver set off and my wife fell and grazed her arm - My wife was using her walking stick and the driver showed no sympathy to her complaint.

The bus has notices to instruct passengers to remain seated while it is moving yet the driver seemed to ignore this

She has little more than a grazed arm an a bloody sweater - the next person may not be so lucky !

Lodge a complaint. If I'd have done that back when I was driving busses, I would have expected at least a disciplinary hearing. If you know the route number and the time of the journey, the company will know who was driving the bus at the time.
Hope the Mrs makes a full recovery.

I think she would have just accepted that thd driver had been a bit hasty - but she was just rude and dismissive to the complaint

I would say it was obvious that wife was unsteady and she was aided by her stick.
No first aid was offered either

Did any other passengers witness it?
Bet none offered help or spoke to the driver!

Yep - they all scuttled away as you guessed!
Especially the ones sitting in the priority seats

I would have kicked up a fuss and insisted the driver pull over to get medical assistance.
Pretty sure the bus would have had cctv on it.
No one wants to get involved these days.

The bus has cctv

My wife is no wilting lily and would normally stand up for herself but she freely admits she was quite shocked!

Get a letter off to the bus company. That is poor behavior from the driver on so many levels. Deserves a ticking off and some.

Sorry to hear of this Ron and hope your wife is ok.

This happened to my mum years ago, she gave up driving as she was cut up by some youths and it totally knocked her confidence so decided the bus was safer. In those days there used to be small mini busses which were lethal. Drivers used to floor it as soon as you paid and tried to get to a seat. She hit her head one day as the driver sped off. We complained to the bus company but all we got was a letter of apology. After that she never used them again so I ended up being the cheauffer :D

Would certainly write to the company and copy your local Councillor in. There must be some safety proviso in place that drivers need to give time for passengers to be seated before moving off.

Tim.
