Falken FK452's??

I have looked at all the usual online tyre suspects for two front Falken FK452's, 225/40/18, and all i seem to be able to find is 453's :x

I would prefer 452's as i already have them on the rears, like new circa 3k old, but if they're proving hard to source for the front then im guessing it will be the same when i need rears too.

So does anyone know if the 452's have been completely superceded by the 453's and are no longer readily available?

And does anyone know where i could get a pair of 452's for a reasonable price? Not £110 each like the ones on eBay

Phone Camskill & see if they can get you 452`s only listing 453`s as you say they are superceding the 452`s.

What's wrong with 110 each? Aren't they normall about 105 anyway?

I recall they are usually comfortably sub-£100, the 453's are up at £87.40 each, i saw the 452's on one of the usual online retailers a few weeks back and im sure they were £82 but now i cant find them anywhere!

They may still be made in batches for a while til the 453's fully supercede them so i think ill keep checking round and hope i can find some at a reasonable price.

And yeah a phonecall to camskill is an idea as they may have some kicking around in the warehouse, i've bought from them before - top class service

:!: Warning non-Z4 related content. :!:

You may be lucky and find the odd one or two in stock somewhere. My local tyre centre had a couple in stock, but the thought that they are "running out" made me look for something else instead. I always keep the rears matched on my Z3 (I did warn you!). Sods law one would get damaged and can't find another one so will have to change both.

Got recommended Maxxis MA-Z1's (which are also directional) and they are equal in performance to the FK452. Also worked out about £30 cheaper a tyre :) Not heard of them before they were recommended. Would certainly fit them to the Z4 when the time comes...

Maybe time to move on and try something else...

They're a name from the off-road (bike, car, cycle) & drift world - originating in Taiwan.

Did you get the 'Drift' or 'Victra' variant - if the 'Drift' variant, then don't worry if you see lots of smoke coming out of them!

According to Maxxis they've got quite a high rolling resistance (which means they use more fuel) - although it's all relative as the best tyre might not have the best rolling resistance rating! These are ranked the worst, which means 7.5% worse fuel economy than the best.

A pair of Maxxis came on a set of used wheels i bought (18;s) , not impressed at all ,
ride felt hard & grip was limited especially on damp roads , ended up on the rears of mrs w's golf 8) not even mid range IMO

As with all manufacturers there'll be a range of tyres for each purpose.

They have some very hard-wearing touring tyres which probably have next to no grip, but they also do tyres similar to the super-sticky Toyo R888s - and everything in between.

The maxxis i have are the MA Z1's , would only accept them as a gift :) although sister has maxxis winters on her 330d , they were at the lower end pricewise but she rates them highly 8)

Since owning my Z4M which cane with
VREDESTEIN ULTRAC SESSANTA tires - they are in a different class to the Falken 452's i had before! They stick like anything and are quiet!

Went with 453's in the end, arrived today £180 delivered for the pair (fronts 225/40/18) from camskill

Will only be fitting them when my wheels are refurbed and i swap back to summers from winters, just trying to spread the cost of new tyres and refurb cost

Are Falkens still the preferred tyre among the forum members... need to order tyres today...

I've used neither but have joined the forum recently and read a lot of tyre posts (!). Vreds get the vote most often, as far as I can see - this is what I will be fitting shortly. I'm assuming that you can get both for a similar price (within £100, fitted, of each other).

Vorti vs Sessanta and 452 vs 453 complicates things... not heard much about the 453s or Vortis yet.
