Well I finally found a second hand set on ebay, they were painted silver over the chrome.But as I intended to paint them any way the colour was not an issue.
So I got home last night and dismantled them, it took ages to get the old sticky pads off the back, wet and dried with 1500 grit ,washed, dried and gave them the first coat. Got home tonight to find a spot were the paint never took, must have missed a bit when sanding and cleaning only a pin head but still noticeable, so rubbed it back and gave them a second coat. I ordered some replacement sticky tape today, should arrive Monday,
So tomorrow will see how today's coat looks and give them a third. If that goes well I will start with the lacquer.
I will post some pics tomorrow forgot to take any before ones. Too eager to make a start
