Facelift improvements

Just how big an update was the newer model?

I'm looking at buying a 3.0 roadster and while originally targeting a 3.0si, I've noticed that there are quite a few E85 3.0 models with a nice spec that I may also be interested in.

Browsing the boards I seem to remember someone comenting on the roof motor design having been improved, but I also saw a post about the newer engine being slightly less reliable.

So, cosmetic facelift or engineering?

By E86 I presume you mean the facelifted roadster (as stated above the E86 is actually the coupe). For the facelift they increased the front brake size, increased the engine power and made a few refinements to the interior. They also added in much more supportive seats to the sport model, and also the steering wheel is a bit chunkier. If I had the choice now I think I'd probably have gone for the facelift instead but the pre-facelift model is still a great car. I've almost certainly missed out plenty of other tweaks so hopefully someone else will be around to fill in the gaps!

Forgive my ignorance over the model numbers, and thanks for the info !

so do you favour the coupe or the roadster, this tell us a lot about your personality :)

Started off as a search for a roadster to replace a Z3 that I foolishly sold recently, didn't like the coupe when it first came out but might be coming round to the idea now... However with the roadster you get two cars for the price of one!

Even thinking about pushing the budget and getting the M version. Just need to find out if that would be much more expensive to run....
