I stripped a pair a while back. Took about 20 minutes each to soak them in hot water then ease the two halves apart. Scrubbed what little remained of the plating off, rubbed them down and painted the insides black. Then fitted £4-worth of LED DRL strips and popped them back together.Street said:I had a set where the internal chrome plating had corroded and looked like sand.
Trying to separate them cleanly was a job and a half and I ended up giving up. Others may have more patience.
Perhaps a better option would be to use these to test colour coding the outside to match the body work. A simple swap back if it’s not for you.
