F type to Z4

Morning all.
Used to have an E85 2.5 a long time ago , currently in a V6 F type 2015 car but fancying a change and like the idea of slightly cheaper running costs - tax, insurance, mpg and service costs.
I’m considering a 30i M sport as an option - think the car looks great with the fabric roof and the mid range power output of the 30i seems more than adequate- I know it’s down on the Jags output (340 > 254) but it’s mainly short journeys I do, and I can’t justify the extra ££ for the M40.

I’ve been scouring the forum and noticed the steering issue the E85 had (sticky steering) which mine suffered from has been mentioned a couple of times.
Are there any other problems that I should look out for ?
Has anyone else gone from an F to a Z

Remember that the tax will have the additional premium for the first 5 years if the car had a list price of over £40,000.

Insurance is always random. It might not be much cheaper.

If you're only doing short journeys, and not many miles, does MPG really matter?
 
Completely different steering sub system…so any issues with it very unlikely to share in common with the E85…

Personally I think I’d prefer the Jaaaggghhh..

Spent a lot of time in the company of one V6 version and have to say I’m very impressed..

Introduced around 2017 as I recall, that threshold of £40k should have been increased in line with inflation to be fair. You don’t get many new list price cars these days for less than that.

Car prices have risen faster than inflation in recent years putting a lot of normal cars on the wrong side of the £40,000 bracket.

It does feel more unjustifiable when things used to be based on emissions, then it was a tax on people that could afford a slightly more expensive car, now it's becoming an expensive tax that will apply to more and more car owners.

Totally agree on all the above, BUT……….. after the initial inflated period my M40i will be circa £180 p.a. to tax

So over 5 years, including the first year bending over of £1k an M40i costs approx £635 p.a. Which I THINK is cheaper than an ///M

This is all based on current tax brackets but don’t see the M40i rising disproportionately to the ///M
 
Compared to ///M tax any thing else pales into the back ground. One of several reasons I bought an Mx5 after my ///MR died. :cry:

A good friend had an F Type V6. Pretty but the performance never shook my world. Nor did it his. He now has an R. 8) :driving: :thumbsup:

Good luck finding the right car. If I had the spending power these days, it would be the current Gen Z4 for me.
 
The 380bhp version of the V6 with a limited slip is much better than the 340bhp version.

One of the best sounding 6 cylinder engines.
