I have the full monty at the moment £87pm for Comprehensive, No Excess and Breakdown Cover. I am considering reducing this to £54pm for Named Component, £250 Excess and Breakdown. Am I doing the right thing? Or should I reduce the cost in another way? All views welcome...

I assume you're talking about the insured extended warranty rather than the AUC warranty (which runs for a year after you buy an AUC car)

I did mine recently and went for the 100 quid excess, without the breakdown cover, think it was about £700 for the year for the M. Not sure if you read the small print but the warranty (without breakdown option) still covers you for the assistance car and cost of towing to the nearest dealer, so if you don't want european cover, hire cars etc etc you can drop that.

Not sure if you are talking about extending a BMW warenty on a new car or Extended on an older car? I have just had a quote for an extended warrenty on a 03 Z4 (60K miles) from warrenty direct £600 (no excess) - seems very comprensive - includes replacing parts identifed requiring repair at MOT or service. Might be worth a look depending on your position.

Would I be right in saying that the main Z4 problem of Broken Springs would only be covered under the comprehensive warranty option?

Warranty direct quoted me £900, extending the AUC was £320 for comprehensive cover (2004 2.5 SE).
