Hey guys another quick one (bet your all sick to death of me by now).

Extended lights package am I right in saying you get lights in the foot wells and on the handels out side of the car (to see puddles) is there anywhere else you get the extra lights.

Has anyone retro fitted them before or does anyone know where I can get this done? And at what cost?

Quote from BMW UK OS:

Extended lighting encompasses ambient lighting in the door handles, which illuminates the area around the car for 20 seconds when the doors are unlocked, for added convenience in the dark. Also includes: lighting for the storage compartment behind the seats, footwell lighting and an illuminated glove compartment

I didn't have extended lights, so i ran a wire from the dome light to a relay, which then takes power to wires i threaded to foot well and door puddle lights. The door handles were a bit tricker as they were hard to get to. The plastic lense is there, its just finding leds that will fit in.

I have seen the place where the light housing goes into the door handle, I presume I cant just put a bulb in there? flybobbie, was it a hard and long process? I have no idea what I'm doing with this kind of stuff. Do you think BMW will do it if I take it in and at what cost?

Kerching !

New to BMW but the way they can find things to charge extra for astounds me. Puddle lights and glove box lights, an optional extra :o

The door handles were messy. The best I could do on the cheap was to glue two white leds from one of those battery powered circular led lights used in caravans. etc. They are a couple of quid from Wilco and alike. Used superglue and just got lucky with the position I glued them projected the light through the clear housing by the door handle. I'm sure there's a proper led that would fit, but couldn't be bothered to strip the door handle to find out.
Footwell light holes are already there, the door had to be cut with a Dremel tool.
Fitted these;
