Extended Lighting - Interior LEDs?

Hi,

New member, waiting the long wait for my new 28i to be built and reading the forum to pick-up tips.
My car will have extended lighting but can someone tell me whether the interior lights are LED? Also, come to think of it, are the rear number plate lights LED?
I've tried to spec the car so that I don't have to make any mods to it like I did with my MX-5 but I swapped the bulbs in that car for LEDs and think they look a lot better.
BMW do an LED upgrade pack which says it's suitable for the Z4 (several, actually), I just don't know if it's required: http://www.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/topics/support/accessories/accessoryDetail.accessoryId=8420.html

I asked the dealer, who emailed me to say he'd find out and call me, but when he called me he said he'd find out...

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Most extended lighting is LED. It's a nice add on but out of date a bit compared to new BMW or merc models. At the time my 35i looked fantastic with the extended lighting. But the new merc blows the BMW away in terms of tasteful but Christmas tree level of lighting.

I always assumed they are LED's though can't say 100% for sure but no matter, you won't be disappointed, the extended lighting is brilliant, I love it, it also changes as you pull the 'key' fob out if you have'nt got comfort access.

When do you get the car? And pics if you please asap.

Hope it turns out all you want it to be.

Thanks for the help and the welcome!
I've not actually seen the extended lighting in person so I'm looking forward to it. My current car, the MX-5 only has the light in the top of the windscreen so it can be a bit dark at times. I'm okay with it not lighting up like a Christmas tree!
I won't have comfort access, so seeing it react to inserting the key will be interesting!
When the dealer called me today, he anticipated me asking for a progress update but said still the end of November. I signed on the line at the start of September, so I'm hoping it'll be a bit sooner than that!
It'll be an auto in Valencia Orange with beige leather, anthracite wood trim and 19" 326 wheels. I'll post pics as soon as I can! I am a little excited. :yeah:

I saw a car with extended lighting and liked it.

But my car never came with it.
So I fitted myself.
Well BMW don't fit the wiring as standard, so no easy retro fit.
I took a feed off the dome light and ran a wire across and down the left pillar to a relay fed from the fuse wiring.
Then added door handle leds (Not BMW but home bodged), puddle lights, foot well lights.
Added orange leds to foot wells, door pockets fed from the cigar lighter bulb wires.
Orange behind the seats and white come with door opening.
Door pockets have orange and micro switch fitted so as the door pocket opens it is lit up white.
All cosy.

Nope, that doesn't sound easy at all! Sounds like nice work though! It's curious what BMW leave the wiring in for and what they don't.
With my current car (must not say 'previous' car, patience) I made quite a few mods but this time, I'm trying to stay stock. Ish. So some LEDs, a stubby and maybe a code or two. No more (I tell myself).
