Exhaust Emmisions warning light

So my car hasn't been starting all to well in the last few weeks and earlier today it ran really lumpy with the Exhaust emissions light coming on. Soon after it ran fine and now the light is off.

Is this something that needs further checking - if its a failed lambda sensor in the Exhaust, what should i be looking at to get it fixed £ ?

Could be a couple of things, without reading the codes you won't know, nor will anyone here - it will be speculation. You can buy a cable and software for about £30.
