Evolve remap

I was wondering if anyone has an evolve of any other map on their car and what their thoughts are ? A search on here and m3 cutters is very conflicting of if it’s worth doing or not.
I have mapped previous cars with mixed results I have always seen it as a cherry on top sort of mod.
My car has the eventuri intake and will be getting some einesmann race boxes on soon. So the big question is, is it worth the cash, evolve want around £450 for the map with Dyno time.
Thanks

if you can go there and do it physically on the dyno, then id say it /might/ be worth it. although cans and eventuri are not mods that airflow has to be modified for. Id wait till you have some supporting mods that require a tune.

What Vanne says

Put the 450 towards some suspension upgrades it'll make a much bigger difference

what engine are you getting mapped? if its turbocharged i definitely would, if its nat asp i definitely wouldn't.

I have an Evolve remote map that was added after my Karbonius air intake, this included conversion to alpha-N. The combination of map and airbox was significant, the car revs more freely as well as more responsive mid range. I've had no warning lights, limp home modes. The process itself was simple, I'm no engineer or IT wizard but using an OBD cable and software, I was able to send a data log before, during and then after.

I agree that if there is significant modifications, whether bolt on or otherwise, it's important to spend more time on the dyno to adjust the parameters of the ECU as well as check all modifications have been carried out properly but on a stock/intake/exhaust car the parameters don't change all that much so I don't see an issue with a remote datalogged map.

Disclaimer -I have driven a stock E46 M3 and one that was mapped on a Maha MSR 500 at Litchfield motors but no other tuned Z4M.

Thanks for the reply’s. I’m still on the fence with this one but leaning towards not bothering. I’m not really chasing power but more driveability smoothing the throttle in sport mode etc.
Maybe I will have a chat with evolve but I’m always wary of tuners advice and would much rather hear from people who have had it done

My MC has had an Alpha - N remap I saw in the paperwork it doesn’t really feel that much different to my old MR tbh, if I hadn’t seen it in the paperwork I wouldn’t have noticed I don’t think :driving:

Just avoid the sport mode it makes the throttle non linear and doesn't actually do anything useful

Yes, I’d agree with this.

If you were getting a carbon plenum / MAF delete / alpha N tune as the remap, then that’s a different thing altogether :driving:

@ Babw

Where do you recommend getting this work done? where did you buy parts? This all compatible with the M80 ECU? Thanks.

that's something I am really interested in...I will send you a PM to discuss if that is ok?

Yes of course, fire away

I have the evolve R on my 92 M3 (ability to switch back and forth between stock and map) and its probably the second best mod I've done after the primary decats.

Engine is stronger throughout and with the 92 it came with the bonus of mapping out cold start/speed limiter etc.

When driven back to back I'd never go back to stock  Not sure if the S54 reacts the same way as the S65 though, especially without the decat which is the biggest restriction in the 92 M3s system.

Interesting. Is this something that was done in the past when the car was MAF-less (e.g. CSL airbox) and has since been reverted? Don’t see it being an issue if it was done for your current setup (assuming you don’t change anything that would need a re-map) - just curious.

Yes it was done previous, it’s got a Gruppe M on so would it have been done with that? I’m not intending on changing anything going forward
