Evo magazine this month.

I love it's sister publication octane.. My favourite car mag by a country mile, totally bored with Car at the moment.

Seems alot of people give octane the thumbs up I have always struggled to get into it tbh, I don't mind Car aswell, but I feel autocar has gone down hill recently & that used to be my favourite.

I spend miles to much money on magazines & I tried going digital on my ipad but it just doesn't feel right to me, has anyone else made the switch to digital?

Autocar is the only one these days that does a comprehensive road test with all the figures. Evo used to, but seem to have abandoned them in recent years. I agree that this issue though is a big improvement. Their website is crap though so that needs sorting next.

True enough. I've' kept my old EVOs from 2005 and reading the Clio 182 vs the M6, made me think these old articles were so much better:
Better description of the cars
Longer articles
Funnier too

Now they have improved, but this Nick Trotts just keeps changing the format, although it is good, he should focus on the essential and improve the articles.

we were talking about rod bearing in this thread so i bumped with some interesting pics... i stumbled across another thread on the s65 platform that just reminded me this issue have been always alive in BMWs high revving N/a engines.

Did you ever change yours Beedub? I changed mine at 50K miles and they were like new.

i will do mine at around 15k, due to the hard miles.... its great to hear yours looked so good at 50k, their seems to be no pattern to them failing... at all... s65 and s85 all suffer the exact same issue.

I've always driven mine hard, taking it on track as soon as I bought it, but I've always over-serviced it too. I don't think that high-revving, highly stressed engines should have such long service intervals. That said, there's obviously an inherent clearance issue in some engines that contributes to earlier failure. I'll be interested to find out what yours look like.
