Evans Halshaw - Cheltenham

Well a major  to Evans Halshaw Cheltenham.
Went there over the weekend with my son to view a 2.5si sport roadster, auto (£8500 approx) which he was keen on possibly buying with a view to px'ing his car.
The roadster was in a disgusting state, the previous owners (4 on a 33,000 mile car that been given very little love). The garage have the car in their "runabout" range which means that any problems with it apart from essential work and MOT requirements, they will not fix and seemed reluctant to even valet the car despite having it since early Feb.
The roadster also has no service history documentation.
The px value given on my son's car was an insult to say the least. I won't divulge the figures but having all ready had a low offer from another dealer, Halshaws was below rock bottom, and having friends in the motor trade we knew what was an acceptable offer. They also claimed that my son's car had a problem which it does not have in any way shape or form.
So I would
A) Avoid Evans Halshaw (Cheltenham) Like the plague
B) Avoid the roadster (Ticking time bomb?)

Unfortunate but not surprising.

Never had a pleasant experience with Evans Halshaw and have nothing good to say about them!

I would always avoid them and Arnold Clark for that matter.

Even if the roadster isn't a ticking time bomb, just out of stubborness I would leave it. Plenty more out there

Plus its a roadster and everyone knows a Coupe is the way to go :fuelfire:

If you want a roof you might as well buy a 3 series :poke:

I looked at a Z4 at the Gateshead EH and to be fair the car was well presented and they were willing to deal a little, just not enough for me.

Your absolutely right A320_phill, like you we have a coupe but our son is a mere youth who hasn't learnt yet that all good things come with a tin top :poke:, but who am I to dissolution him.
Joking apart the roadster wasn't just dirty it seemed to have an excessive amount of wear, knocks and neglect to the steering wheel, internal trim etc for a car of such low milage hence the ticking time bomb remark.
So the search goes on. :)

I bought my 2003 2.5 Z4 from these people. They did a valet, an oil service and an MOT before releasing it to me, this was running late so they delivered it to me.

Yes, I paid over the odds for her, but that was my fault as I wanted her. Some service history, and she passed the next MOT with the same advisory as at theirs.

However their aftersales is cr4p as I never heard from them again until just before the next MOT was due - I politely told them to get lost :D

As I'm not sure the lights have been reset [as she claims 8000+ miles to next service] she will shortly be in in Cotswold for an Insp2 :o

So ......

A) one bad apple doesn't spoil the bunch
B) I hear no ticking :driving:

Well the pits you could well be right that one bad apple etc. etc, but it still doesn't alter the fact that the whole level of service was very poor. We were there with every intention of buying the car if it had been siutable, not tyre kicking. Also the fact of the bogus fault claim about my sons present car left a vey bad taste in the mouth. I can only speak as we found.
