European road trip advice

I am wanting to do a two week road trip through Europe either June or July, later if timing would be better.

No thoughts at the moment just want great scenery, great roads and try and avoid the traffic.

Any advaice welcome on route and timing.

Will try replying properly when I have access to a PC. I highly recommend route napoleon from grenoble to grasses near the south coast. Not brilliant near grenoble, but further south its brilliant..

How far are you thinking of going and how much driving/resting and sightseeing do you want to do?
Provence has beautiful drives, lots of them and the trip from the french border into Italy, driving along the coast to Genoa is splendid, lots of tunnels and beautiful sea.
I am planning a trip into Germany to the Rhine later in the year, then down the Bavarian Romantic Road to the alps, across to Salzburg, into Italy by the lakes and then into Provence.
August is French holiday month traditionally and in the south hot hot temperatures. We quite often find ourselves driving inland to higher ground in the Haut Provence to get a little cooler. Had a lovely drive last year from Forli in Italy to Florence, that drive through Emilia Romagna is every bit as pretty as a drive in Tuscany. I've seen some other threads mentioning trips into what i remember as Yugoslavia, (might be easy to find if we had a road trip section if any moderators are reading, forgive me for bringing it up )
The possibilities are endless so i would suggest you give some thought to stopping points and what you want to do in the non driving time. My trip last year i based loosely around the Mille Miglia Route.
Good luck - there's nothing better than driving your zed around new and exciting countryside.

I would say....

Belgium, France, Germany, Holland, Luxembourg....easy

Spain, Portugal, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Denmark, Hungary, Czech Republic....easy but further

Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia....roads are mixed / rough and you'll probably worry about the car at night....

Thanks guys, I'll give some more thought to stopping off points and do some searching on the forum.

Must contact Roadtrip as he gave me an excellent route across Scotland last year

Basically i want to include Stelvio Pass, Fluella Pass, Julier pass which are all on the Car Tour Adventures website,

I'm after the best driving roads primarily around which I will plan stopping off points and other destinations.

Looks like I will either be travelling on my own or with a mate so not too bothered about fancy hotels to keep the cost down

Reading about other peoples road trip plans makes me a little bit envious, need to start planning this years motorcycle road trip

Don't you also need to adjust the headlights for Euro driving? I think this is a bit of a faff from memory?

On a Z4 it doesn't look too tricky. There's a lever you need to switch in the headlights to switch the beam pattern, it's in the manual. Much better than using awful beam deflectors.
