Euro trip

Im looking for some ideas for a little euro road trip April time ,currently planned is I'm off to the Nurburgring for a couple of days but I'm thinking of making in into a week long road trip.so I'm after some places to visit afterwards either in germany still or further a field any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
 
When I did it last year I sailed to holland, spent a a couple of nights in amsterdam, then drove down to the ring the following morning. From there down into France and a couple of days in Lyon, then across to monza, up to lake como. Then stelvio pass into Austria up to Stuttgart, then last few nights in Brussels before taking the channel calias to dover home. It was supposed to be 10 days but we ended up spending 2 weeks in europe
 
haha deifny go Amsterdam on the cards the last night before we sail.wish I had abit more time just don't fancy driving a lot and not seeing places at the same time.

My dates are sail the 7th come back the 14th and I've got two days at the ring.
 
Have you ever been to Reims you can check out the old GP course, not far from there is Chalons en Champagne which is the home
of Champagne you can check some of the champagne houses out and get a few cheaper bottles and not far from there is
Troyes which is a old medieval town

Did you just book the next night as you went along? We've done that in this country and it works great. But always been a bit nervous about late booking abroad. In case you get ripped off. as has happened the few times we have tried it in France.

Did you just book the next night as you went along? We've done that in this country and it works great. But always been a bit nervous about late booking abroad. In case you get ripped off. as has happened the few times we have tried it in France.

We had the first night booked and did a combination of hotels camping and actually a luxury penthouse in Brussels. France was the hardest but everywhere else was fine got turned away from a few that we rang but I think that could have been down to my mate messing up his French vocab and saying je n'aime pas le francais (I don't like the french) instead of je ne parle pas francais (I dont speak French) to a few French hoteliers so that was never going to go down well. After that we just went on laterooms.com stopped at services along the way when we knew what time we were going to end up in each place picked up a wifi signal and booked online so got some really good accommodation deals along the way. Next time we do it will just stick to laterooms

:lol: yep the language barrier is certainly an issue with us Brits abroad. Last few trips we have, hooked up the huddles to the wifi each night. Picked a few likely hotels, at our target area for the following night and then booked on line or phoned them in the morning. We have found we generally get really good deals, as the room is otherwise likely going to be empty. :D Kind of our own version of late rooms. :wink:
 
Agree with Reims area just great. Theres a really peculiar car museum there aswell.
Check out Colon&Fils, top class champagne at low rate and too class people to deal with.
Just 40min south of Nurburg you have the Mosel area just stuffed with the greatest Riesling wines on earth, from around 5-6euro each.. :)

Obviously Spa is just little more than an hour away, should the possibilities accour to drive some laps there..

@ 6:00 am on the way to the Porsche Museum from Baden Baden - lovely road and a nice warm up before the Alps - just watch out for the wildlife!

No never been there but I know that they can make a nice bit of cake down that way

Another place worth checking out is the lions Mound just south of Waterloo in Belgium its a monument to the
battle of Waterloo and its got some great views on a clear day
