Error code 2717 ???

Hi all
Just ran Autophix code reader on my 3.0 e85 and got the following...
2717 - Oxygen-sensor heater after cat.conv.,bank 2:activation

This code was present when I checked the codes just after purchasing a year ago , I cleared codes but it back ! ....where should I start to track this down ?
The car seems to be running fine

I got an Amber EML on my 2nd E86 - fault codes were for post-cat O2 sensors on both banks, but the Code No. was different (probably because of different diagnostics). My Indy cleared them, dosed it with Cataclean and told me to run it on Shell V-Max.

Which worked fine for a few months then the dreaded Amber EML re-appeared. Booked it in and while my Indy was running the diagnostics the battery died! So new battery, codes cleared, more Cataclean and only Super Plus fuel and no further lights for the next 3 years I owned it.

I still don't know if using Regular fuel or a dying battery were the root problem, but I can't help thinking it may have been the battery given how many random warning lights they can cause (including my MC last year last year).

So how old is your battery? It might be worth checking the voltage both dormant and with the engine running before getting involved with sensors.

I'm not getting any warning lights on dash , maybe a slightly lumpy tickover when cold but ok when warm ...I will check battery first ...not sure how old it is ..will try and find a date code on it :thumbsup:

thanks rob , so that would be cylinders 4-6 ? Would a bosch be a good replacement or go oem ?

Bosch is the only Lambda sensors i use. I believe they are the OEM sensors. :thumbsup:

Mine were a direct replacement. No issues with the connectors.

This is the one that you need for Bank 2, Sensor 2. BOSCH 15669 Actual OE Oxygen Sensor
Downstream; Cylinder(s) 4, 5, and 6
 
Had an airbag code on the passenger seat self inflicted when had the seat out to fit heated seat pads and switched onto test the newly installed switches with the seat still out. Wasn’t too worried as I had INPA and BMW Scanner1.4 to clear it once the seat was put back in or so I thought. Neither would clear the fault code so invested in Creator 310+ scanner which found the code hiding in the left satellite module, hit the clear code button and it immediately cleared the code and it stayed off ever since. Might be worth trying yours with a Creator 310+ to see if it will clear it.

thanks for the info , I have the Autophix 7910 but have now ordered a new lambarda sensor, I my still invest in the 310+ as we have other bmws in the family :thumbsup:
