EPS Motor replacement

Can someone tell me whether or not you need to code a replacement EPS motor? I need to change the motor and wonder if it is just a swap over?

Done several now. No coding required.
Are you refurbishing and refitting your original one? If so, all should be fine.
If you fit a replacement you may need to tweak the spacer ring to alleviate any sticky steering. You may also need to calibrate the Steering Angle Sensor.

Many thanks for the reply. Initially putting in a different motor because there are no fault lights or fault codes with the original, going to see if that solves the problem. If so I will also get the original checked/repaired at ECU testing. Good point about the Steering angle sensor - I’ll make sure to calibrate it, alongside finding the sweet spot for the spacer ring.

So why exactly are you changing it?

The power assistant seems to be erratic and varies as you turn the wheel. We had it up on the ramp and something is amiss, it’s not the sticky steering, the ring has been adjusted a few times. Hence I want to put another motor in to see if the motor is the problem. If not, will need to think again.
