I purchased a 2004 Z4 with 20,000 miles. It is a 3.0i with the 6 speed manual. The car was sitting for a long time and rodents did a job on the engine harness. I contacted BMW and was told that the complete harness was no longer available and out of production. The service attendant in parts looked up the part using my vin. The part number was 7537281. He then managed to find that part number on eBay used and said that was my only alternative. The ad on eBay used that part number and described it as from a 2004 Z4 M54 engine automatic trans.
My question is if the harness is the same for the automatic and manual trans? If not, is there a way to modify the present harness or get a wire lead that fits the manual trans?
