Engine Warning Light

Looking for some advice.

EWL light has been periodically coming on for the last 18 months - each time it is taken back to dealer they want £120 + VAT to hook up to the diagnostic computer - but they could not find any problems (great way of generating revenues if your are a dealer!) so reset the warning light.

After the last incident I insisted that they get BMV involved and, after waiting 2 weeks, they advised that I needed a new cat + 4 oxygen sensors! They "graciously" offered to provide the cat free of charge but I would have to pay for the sensors and all labour - £1100! They still cannot gaurantee that this will fix the problem - what a joke.

The car has only done 37k and is a 2006 2.0 SE version. Surely a cat should last longer than that.

Since owning the car I have had to have a new manifold (10.5k miles), new OSR spring (31k miles) and now recommending a new cat + oxy sensors. Never had a car with so many problems.

Am I alone or can anyone advise me if they have had the same EWL problem.

Thanks for any feedback... :D

I had the same light and had an O2 sensor replaced, they were able to diagnose it.

There was another thread recently but I can't find it now :headbang:

Amazing how quick they do things when covered by warranty.
