Engine Oil Top up

Hi
I have a 2006 3.0 Si Roadster Sport, Its done 52000 miles and had an oil change at about 42000 Miles Its just had the add 1.0 L come up on the dash to which I have duly added the same amount of Mobil 1.
I had a Z3 for 5 years before that which had done 92k when I sold it and I never had to top up between oil changes. In fact I cant ever remember having had to add oil to any of my previous beemers between services.
Getting back to My Z4 has any one else had to add oil between oil changes or I am suffering some premature wearing?

The M54 engines normally use a little oil. Not sure about N52, but suspect its totally normal

A litre per 6.000-10.000 miles is perfectly normal on the 3.0si, especially when you do city runs and some spirited driving.

yeh mine definitely moves between services
sport button apparently uses more

Cant see how sport button would do that, but on my old 2.5si I could add 2 litres between services.

Yep mine is going down very gradually ... Kind of expect it when it gets some right foot abuse on the weekends (also 06 si)

Indeed mine uses a drop, around a ltr every 8k miles.

I've done just over 35k during my 3 years of ownership and had to top up twice in-between (yearly) oil changes
