Engine flush?

I recently purchased a 2005 Z4 with a 2.5 motor and in looking in the oil fill opening and seeing some other questionable things, I'm beginning to think that the engine has not had much loving care in the form of oil changes. I happen to be an Amsoil dealer and will be changing it over soon but before that am thinking about flushing it a couple times in quick succession with engine flush. Anyone have any experience or thoughts on running a flush through this engine? Thanks!

Some pictures of the oil fill opening might help diagnosis? If your car has been used for short runs it may be condensation as opposed to bad/mis treatment

Personally i wouldnt use engine flush on my z4.What i would suggest is changing the filter and putting some cheap oil in and running for 20-30 miles then changing the filter again with the oil brand of your choice. Best option and your safest bet.

Firstly the mayo in the top of the engine is emulsified oil/condensation, a LOT of it can be evidence of head gasket problems but small amounts are quite normal on cars that are used for short, cold runs. It's not necessarily evidence of poor maintenance and it often shifts after a good hot run. State of the oil is far more informative.

Flushing is very good at shifting stubborn residue from inside the engine, unfortunately it can lift lumps from where it's doing no harm to block small oilways and pick-ups. I wouldn't flush an engine unless I intended to strip it, far better to stick with the advice from Kevdix and give it a good blast
