Engine Fan noise

Hi All just noticed the engine fan is making a noise when the engine is shut off or I have had the aircon on
It’s a 2007 coupe automatic which I think then causes a problem as opposed to a manual the part number comes up as. 17427519704 and is a ridiculous price anyone aware of a replacement or a earlier bmw that would do the job I believe it’s not possible or economical to repair or put a bearing or has anybody noticed this on theirs and it’s not got worse ?
Cheers

Errr, I just plugged that number into RealOEM and it shows it as a 400W fan that fits all E85 and E86 except the M?

There is another one: 17427542912 that seems to cover auto, M and hot climate at 600W

I've just nipped out to check the one in my wife's 2.5i M54 Automatic and that is the 400W version.

The bearing will only get worse so worth replacing.
Apart from when we get these very hot spells, the fans in all my E85s never seem to have to switch on unless I engage the AC.

I think I would suggest you pull yours to see what rating it is, and then replace it with the standard one and see how it goes.

That sounds more like it , I was trying a few sites with my reg and was saying doesn’t fit your car otherwise I wouldn’t be posting thanks for the quick response

No problem, I don’t have a spare right now but one of the other breakers on here may do

Another option is the E9* fans, for a fraction of the price (£18 at the moment!), if you're happy to solder/crimp three wires

Just got a photo and the part number is nowhere near what’s listed for mine so should be easy to sort out , I can solder if worse comes to the worse !

My E86 fan was getting really noisy.....sounded like the bearing.

I sourced a used one that was silent and fitted it. Simple job. If I remember, disconnect the power, undo one screw and lift out. New one drops in, redo screw, plug in and that's it.

Yep the bearing is definitely making a grinding sound it’s only a weekend car but I need to do it soon !
Don't fret on doing the job. It is probably ten minutes, including removing the front cover for access.
Just be sure when you fit the new one not to snag any pipes or looms; and make sure the bottom edge locates properly or it can move back and forth a bit.

I think you gave me similar advice when I was swapping mine. Job was dead simple

Thanks guys I’ve just found a low mileage one for £40 thanks for all your help glad I asked god knows why that dodgy part number comes up it makes it look rarer than it is !
