Does this stuff go off (harden) then or does it leave a finish that grit and dust will stick to? If its the latter, it may look great now, but like covering everything in oil it could be a grit and grime magnet?

Early days but it appears to have dried as with tyre dressing or with AG vinyl+rubber cleaner .
I brushed it on with a dressing brush , allowed to dry then went over lightly with a soft cloth making me officially a Car Cleaning Nerd

Buy them from the main dealer or off Ebay..

They are only cheap..They come off an E46 M3,the Z4M was never fitted with them.

And you can have too many ///M badges...

Yea...

I love machine polishing.....Its therapeutic....

Better pics here..

Cool, nice to see an Imola cousin well looked after, i'll be going at mine with a DA as soon as i get the guts to order one - i guess it's not the best month with tax due but hey ho, hopefully get a better finish and a thick wax coat on it for winter.

Yea..

If you not sure which compound/polish/pad etc etc then use the 3M system..... Works very well and is a quality product..

I also really like the Megs ultimate compound, very easy to use and does a lovely job..I have used them all over the years and IMHO the compounds that are a lot more expensive are better, but are harder to apply and get correct.

You can achieve 90% of the finish for 10% of the price..

As far as wax goes i have Zymol Royale glaze on mine, but i was lucky yo get a small pot at the right money.. I have used R5VE lockdown,Optimum optishine (both sealers) and Collinite 845 insulator wax on Imola red and there are all superb at the job. For ultimate winter protection the Colly 845 is pretty awesome with incredible beading!

I have some stuff already from hand-polish/waxing, AG SRP, Victoria Concours wax etc. Got my clay and i'm using flash for APC ;)

Need some wheel woolies, a DA and whatever polish i need for the machine. From watching vids and reading tuts i like the look of the hex-logic and megs 105/205 combo but seems to be sold out atm unless you buy huge quantities.

Looking at the DAS-6 pro from CYC but without the other products in stock i dont wana get lumped with a machien i cant use until the polish comes back in stock :p

Thats the same DA i have....

And i pretty much always use Hexlogic pads... If you do decide to buy some megs UC then if you wish, you can go from compound to polish stage on the panels that dont need an intermediate stage..

I have some megs 205 and it is a good finisher after compound work, although i have to admit i have only used 1/4 bottle as it goes a long way..

I tell you what is a good cheap polish for Imola red,AG Ultra deep shine... It is a bit chalky like SRP but gives a real sharp reflection..

Hijacking the original thread topic a bit here sorry.. my friend has some of the UDS stuff, are the AG polishes safe with a DA?

With regards to the engine detailing, did you go all out with some APC and brushes beforehand? i'm always concerned about what i should and shouldnt get wet - especially after having a flat battery once and finding the under-bonnet (+) batt connector open and exposed.
