Engine Coolant light

Hi all,

I've just joined the forum, yesterday and this morning my engine coolant light came on for a minute or so before going out. Has anyone experienced this and does it mean i need a top up, replacement or something else?

If i do need to top it up should i do this myself or take to a garage?

I do have the manual and thanks for the responses. The issue i have or what's driving the question is the fact the light comes on and then goes off. Normally i would expect a light relating to an issue to remain constant until fixed.

Not necessarily (though I can't confrim for sure in terms of the coolant warning light)... For example, when you need a topup on oil the oil warning light breifly comes on when you start the car. It only remain constantly on when it's at a critical level.
