EML?

Driving my Z4M this afternoon in the fantastic sunshine.... I accelerated moderately hard from a junction and the EML comes on. Car is running rough, feels like its mis-fueling or firing on 5 cylinders. Pull over, turn it off, leave it ten seconds and restart - all is normal. I have run the car for 13,400 miles without a single issue, everything is fine again....what could that have been?

Thanks!

I had the same issue not so long ago....in my instance the light didn't go off when restarted, and the car appeared to run normally, the car was due an oil service and the light issue was sort at the service.....
Strangely no mention of the fix on the invoice so I asked th question.....Was told that the fix had been done under warranty and had been a fault with an oxygen sensor?

all the best Iain

Interesting....thanks guys. It was serviced about 1400 miles ago. Should I get this checked or wait to see if it comes on again?

Driving to London tomorrow and wold rather not have any issues...

By way of reply - Mine came on whilst away on business. I took the car into Sytners in Solihull. They diagnosed o2 sensor and reset the light. I drove home, 140mls and called my dealer. For a couple of reasons it wasn't fixed for another week and in total I did at least 300mls. Neither dealer seemed bothered and after all the EML is amber isn't it....

Mine came on at 10000 miles, Lambda sensor replaced under warranty. Seems a common fault.

Did anyone elses car exhibit any problems before this light came on? Mine seems to be running a little rough at the moment not sure if this could be the problem.

Yes. Mine ran rough for a while (misfiring) and then it disappeared before making an unwelcome return. Ended up with a new ECU, O2 sensor before they came round to my way of thinking and replaced the Lambda sensor but that's Vines for you - flaming useless. :headbang:
