EML & Service Engine Light

Hi There,

Newbie here. Bought a 2004 BMW 3.0i in Nov 2014 which had only 18K miles. I have only used it a few times since. Yesterday it was 85 Degrees F (around 30 degrees C) and I took it out for a long drive. While driving suddenly EML and Service Engine lights came on together. Pulled over, gave it a few minutes and started it again, didn't notice any lights so started driving again. A few minutes later the lights came back again along with Brake and Traction lights. All the lights are in yellow. Pulled over again and gave it some time and started driving again. Did anybody experienced similar issues? Please advise.

Thanks,
Kris

Hi Kris,

Welcome along!

Multiple and unrelated warning lights is normally a sign of a faulty battery, not necessarily bad enough for the car to not start, but a lower than ideal voltage confuses the hell out of the cars systems (The E85 seems particularly prone to this) - Seeing as your car has little use lately, which doesn't do batteries much good, I would start there.

Stu.

I have one of these, mine is an older model, but has brought many a " Dead " battery back to life. I have a few vehicles and just put the charger on if a battery is fading, soon has it back to full health.
