Emission light on with code p1413?

Hi All,

My z4m's emission light came on a couple of weeks ago. Got my ODB reader throught today so hooked it up and got - P1413 Secondary Air Injection Pump Relay Control Circuit Signal Low

I had assumed it would just be an O2 sensor issue. Does anyone know if it could be the O2 Sensors causing this error code? I know there does seem to be a P1413 Secondary Air Injection Pump Relay that I guess could be faulty?

Just doing some 'googling' suggests, solenoid or pump - no mention of relays . If that doesn't fix it then rear O2.

Essentially theres a pump that blows air into the exhaust to control emissions, sometimes this gets water in and either rots the solenoid, or freezes and breaks the pump/stops the flap from opening.......

I would try resetting the code and see if it comes back, if it was a few weeks ago, maybe it froze ? ( I dont know where you are ) and then logged the error code ?

Thanks for the info I have cleared the code so will see if it comes back on. I know there is a way to test the pump to see if its working etc but I will wait and see if the code reappears!

Well the emissions light came back on today This time I got the the following code as well as p1413

P1453 Secondary Air Injection Pump Relay Control Circuit Electrical

I wonder if it is a faulty relay after all. Guess I better get a good bmw indy to have a look at it
