I'd move to New England to work in a heart beat if I could. I've been to Boston several times and just love it. Unfortunately IT bods are ten a penny over there so me getting a green card is just a dream

.I like living in Germany. But I certainly wouldn't want to immigrate. Just to much tax on everything. The winters while not very snowy are dreadfully dark, cold, and wet. But no wind to speak of.

Home prices are super cheap compared to the monumental prices you brits pay for a home. While my home isn't top drawer or historic. It's very nice. and one level (will be nice when we get old) 2000SqFt 3bedroom, 2 bath. 3 car heated/air-conditioned garage, Borders a vineyard, Has a stream in the back garden. In 2008 I paid 164,000 pounds for it.
Then there's the taxes.
State & Federal income tax= 20%, Our income in Europe= 40+%
State sales tax=8% Federal sales tax=0%, European VAT=19%
Petrol in USA=$3.90 per US gal. Europe=$8.00 per US gal.
Car reg in Wa.=$20 per year. Full cover insurance on the Zed=$400 per year.

Seriously thinking of leaving this horrid wet over populated little country!! Maybe somewhere on the east coast of the USA?? Any suggestions where from the locals?? Ideally near a big university where i can try and carry on with a similar job roll in scientific research. And MUST have warm summers i can live with cold winters but it MUST HAVE warm mostly DRY ( NOT BLOODY WET ) summers.
The UK is bloody beautiful when its sunny. But i cant remember the last decent summer.
