Ellipsoid centre caps, eBay?

I bought a set of centre caps for my new ellipsoid wheels from an eBay seller called januuk2013, fitted them... And after a 2 mile drive 3 had fallen out :x They were only £8 odd, but that's not the point.

Am I correct in thinking 68mm is the right size?

I'm not looking to waste £30-40 on genuine ones, so has anybody bought any decent BMW centre caps off eBay that stay in? I don't want to commit to another pair for the same thing to happen!

single line of electrical tape around the inner rim of your alloy centre cap hole.. fixes the problem

I've got some now that are the right size, but it's very hard to find perfect ones nowadays..

68mm is the right size, and the ones you buy will be 68mm.. but the "springy" arms aren't that springy

Sk93, you couldn't point me in the direction of the centre caps you have could you?

Not sure I'd be happy with the tape solution, I'm funny like that!

this is who I bought mine from.
they have some blue ones on at the mo, but not the exact black-white carbon ones I purchased:

don't take it as granted that the set you buy will fit perfect however.. I could have just been lucky.

with the tape, you never actually see any of it (none of it's visible at all with the cap fitted) - it literally just adds a couple of mm of soft padding that the center caps seem to "bite" into better.

you could probably acheive the same result by sticking a thin foam pad to each "leg" of the center caps.. it'd need to be thin - maybe even just a dab of dried glue.
(I say dry, as you don't want to stick the caps inside the wheels.. that'd be bad!)

Refurb your own, very satisfying & cost me a little more than a tenner.

I haven't got any to refurb!

Don't really want carbon effect either, just plain old BMW roundel's. I am not spending the amount required for genuines!
