electronic key loc k

I recently bought a 2006 Z4. I find that I have to be almost against the car for the electronic key to work. I also have difficulty getting the electronic key to open the trunk. Has anyone else had this problem and has anyone found a solution. Could it simply be a weak battery?

Try holding the trunk release button down for a few seconds and then release.
The trunk should then open ...

Welcome to the Forum! And yes, you have to be near the car for the keys to work, unfortunately.

...And you have to hold it down for a second, every time you lock or unlock the vehicle the key and the car exchange data.

If it was an actual problem, instead of a known issue, then it may have been moved. But, we all know that the keys do not transmit from very far, and the trunk requires an extra push or a couple of seconds to respond.
