Electronic handbrake

Hi all
New member hoping someone can help the wife has a 2012 z4 and handbrake has stopped working red indicator light was on last week and working but just stopped wondering if anyone has had same issue

Loads on here about it if you search but bottom line is it will need a software update to fix and it may have been caused by an old battery.

Strange it needs a software update after all this time

When the car battery starts going faulty or left to go flat, for some reason the handbrake module spits its dummy out and refuses to work, it then needs a software update to make it happy again.

Needs a decent bmw Indy or main dealer

Check in the right hand side behind the boot liner. The module is in there and if water gets in corrodes the pins. Cost nothing and someone recently sorted theirs this way.

You can do it yourself if you have a laptop and are comfortable with installing and running programs,
The main program required is WinKFP.

Said it before, take to BMW ask to fix for free.
It's a safety issue that BMW messed up.
Also speak to trading standards.
Also report to DVLA, they like to know of dangerous vehicle faults.
BMW should call back or fix for free. Don't let them get away with it.
