Electrics Problems

I am not having a good Z4 experience at the moment. :( First problem, the warning light saying I have a bulb out is coming on intermittently and when it is on my left hand indicators flash at double speed, I have checked and no bulbs are out, but when it's off the left indicators return to their normal speed. :( Then the alarm started to go off when it feels like it, so I have to had lock the car on the key. :( Finally the radio has started blowing its fuse, sometimes immediately the ignition is turned on and sometimes not for 10 minutes. This has all happened over the last 2 weeks but as I need my car for work I haven't managed to get her into a garage but I was looking for any suggestions to maybe check first. In a perfect world they would all be related....

 I wouldn't know where to start regarding bad earths so I guess its back to the garage. Also after 6 months of ownership I have just discovered that I own a 2.2 Z4 not the 2.5... another conversation with the garage and my insurance company!

I'm guessing the badge on the front wings are missing, obvious to spot 2.2

Get someone to run DIS v57 which will tell you all your faults

There's normally an engine size/trim level badge between the round side indicators and the door seam. Some owners remove them for various reasons, sometimes to hide the fact the car has a smaller engine. I took mine off because it's easier to clean and looks cleaner, but I will provide them to the next buyer when that time comes.

DIS is the dealer's diagnostic computer.

I think you have separate unrelated problems, as improbable as it may seem. Indicators could be a moisture problem or some other bad connection, including earth. Hard to find the problem unless it's occurring when you are able to troubleshoot. I would at least take out the front indicators and inspect for moisture issues, some others have had moisture problems here.

Alarm can be any number of things, but many have had issues with dodgy bonnet sensors.

Blown fuses, assuming proper sized fuses and no modifications from OEM, almost have to indicate a short somewhere.

Looks like these could be fun to sort out. All of them seem to be intermittent. The alarm seems to have a mind of its own but I can live with the key locking solution at the moment. The indicator just irritates but the radio is quite a biggie as I do over 200 miles a day 4 days a week and rely on Radio 2's traffic updates....
