Electric folding mirrors via key fob

Exiting my car recently I was holding a bunch of stuff in my hands and after locking the car with key fob the mirrors then folded up..? I can only think I was holding a button down on the key fob?

However, I can't seem to replicate this again! I do know you can open and close windows by holding unlock/lock on the key fob.

It would be neat to have the mirrors fold up on lock... is this a standard feature on the remote or programmable?

'08 Coupe.

Thanks

Ronnie

I have a 2007 coupe and it does not do that - I spoke to the nice people at BMW who said they have no idea whether each car car be programmed to do it from the keyfob but they will happily get their engineers to examine the car to see if it can be programmed or not - that will be one hours labour and then there will be an additional charge to reprogramme the car/fob but there is no guarantee that when when it is next serviced that it will not revert to the original programme

Strangely enough I think my mirrors have folded up without me pressing the internal door button but I am not certain that it was not a dream

Try holding the lock button down for even longer, the windows should close first then the mirrors fold - IIRC that's the way it seems to work on most BMWs that can do this

Hi,
I've got a 2007 3.0si and mine has done the same a few random times. I've not been able to repeat it either.

I'm thinking that I've caught the mirror button with my knee as I've been getting out. Only seems to happen when my hands are full or it's tight to get out.

Might just be you knocked the button???

Maybe that was the case! It was a tight spot and hands were full.

Programming mirrors for auto fold/open on the key is easy - set the line BEIKLAPPEN_B_KOMFORTSCHL to active in the KGM module (or equivalent module for your car) using NCS

I wish I knew what that meant, but sounds intriguing? Have you tried this, and do they auto fold upon lock/unlock, or due to a specific button press action, i.e: hold down lock/unlock.

Ronnie

Programming the mirrors to fold using NCS doesn't work, I think our Z4s are missing a separate module which the E46 has, but was not available on the Z4.

Mine don’t once on the key, now it won’t. Weird!

If I long press my roof comes down which is nice,, until when I tried to fold the mirrors the roof opened in the pouring rain.
