Eibach. Simple answers required.

I'd be surprised if it didn't have the sport suspension fitted but it's a possibility I guess.

Interesting thread. I had a look at your first pics you posted on here, and it's always hard to tell with angles and everything but it does look like your car sits higher than one would expect for a Sport - but is it a Sport, or an SE with M seats as an option? Have you got the ///M steering wheel? I'm not aware of an M Sport suspension delete as an option, like you can do on the E89.

Let me clear a few thing up for you OP. I run an M so I have no first hand xp of the 3.0.

The springs are not necessarily softer they are progressive, im assuming to a greater extent than stock which means they are softer under light load. If they have added significant camber to the rear then you need to get it looked at as your causing all sorts of issues there, less traction over bumps and under acceleration, you're also dialling in more understeer.

Funny I thought the same about you, go and ask Eibach if their springs are softer let me know what they say? Please also tell me why you never bothered having an alignment done after changing your set up?

What am I missing?

I love my Eibach i had standard on my last zed and think these are loads better but i came from elises to zeds again so Eibach doesnt seem that harsh.

Mike, the car is definitely a sport, log book says sport as do my invoices from BMW. The car has the M wheel as well as the seats.

Dan it does look a tad high for sport suspension? I guess it could be the angel... this is my Zed with 18" alloys on which is also a sport .. am pretty sure the coupe and roadster have the same set up..

When I had my old roadster which was my first Zed, the rear springs broke and the garage I went to fitted standard springs without knowing! well got it home and thought that looks odd... anyway took it back and got it sorted. It may have had the springs changed at some point

One other thing, is there a like for like replacement for the rear springs of better quality? im happy with the ride and handling of my car but would like to change the springs before they break.

At the time I changed mine (3 years ago) there was no other option. Both my rears were snapped and I went for Eibach after recommendations here but also their reputation as being the best aftermarket spring. They're also supposed to be designed to work with the original dampers.

TBH I've never found the reduced ride height to be a disadvantage. I like the look but equally I'm happy with the standard sport suspension look.

Yeah from your new pic it does seem to have lowered a fair bit. Have you taken the springs off now? Do you think that there could be something wrong with the Eibach springs themselves?

you could get the same result by changing to 16" wheels with 45 profile tyres. I know mods are an end in themselves ... if you want something that sits low to the ground why not fit 13" wheels or buy a hovercraft?

Suspension deletion was an option box on the Z. So it is quite possible.

The only way you can find out what spec your car came with using the VIN number. But it does look high. I have H&Rs on my Z4Mc they came with it so I cant comment on the before and after but the car is bloody good. Barely any roll what so ever and the stance looks sick. The H&Rs lower the car slightly more than the Eibachs, im putting some 19" CSLs in the next month or so but going to get a Hunter alignment to make sure everything is as good as it can be
